This years premiere of the Helsinki Dance Company is Bonfire: The Wondering Bands of Storytelling Sapiens.
Choreography is created and directed by Ima Iduozee, one of the most exciting names in the Finnish contemporary dance. Bonfire is a tribute to the 45th anniversary of Helsinki Dance Company, the dance group of Helsinki City Theatre. Iduozee describes Helsinki Dance Company ́s role significant in the history of Finnish dance. Bonfire, the name of the performance, refers to eternal flame.

Iduozee made his personal debut with the ”This is the Title” solo performance in 2012. Praised by the critics, it has already been performed in 15 countries. Iduozee ́s other choreographies have been seen for example in Julia & Romeo (Finnish National Theatre) and in Purple nights (Stockholm City Theatre).

Bonfire: The Wondering Bands of Storytelling Sapiens is performed by dancers of Helsinki Dance Company: Sofia Hilli, Jyrki Kasper, Heidi Naakka, Mikko Paloniemi, Justus Pienmunne ja Inka Tiitinen.
Costumes are designed by Laura Väinölä, winner of the Young Designer of the Year 2016 award.
Bonfire: The Wondering Bands of Storytelling Sapiens premieres on 27th of February in Studio Pasila of Helsinki City Theatre.
